These tips are a general guide only – always pre-test in an inconspicuous area, follow the product label and use appropriate PPE as required. If you are unsure, talk to our team before treating valuable carpets or floors.
Spotless Carpets
-
Quick Response is Key: Act swiftly when a stain occurs. Blot up excess fluids with a towel or paper hand towel to help prevent the stain from setting.
-
Handle Solid Matter: If there's any solid matter on the carpet, gently scoop it up with an appropriate tool.
-
Pre-Testing and Treatment: Before using chemical pre-treatments, test them on a small inconspicuous area. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and dilution notes for your cleaning chemicals.
-
Blot, Don’t Scrub: When treating a stain, use a blotting motion from the outside towards the centre. Avoid scrubbing or brushing, as this can push the stain deeper into the carpet fibres.
-
Know When to Seek Expert Help: Stop the treatment and consult a cleaning expert if you notice colour transfer from the carpet to your cloth.
Conquering Common Carpet Stains
Facing coffee, red wine, fruit juice, urine or berry stains on your carpets? Here are the key steps using typical professional stain removers.

Stubborn Stains (Paint, Ink, Tar, Oil)

- Blot up excess with a towel, rinse, and extract.
What Else?
Rust Removal
Bid farewell to unsightly rust stains with our expert approach. Begin by conducting a colour fastness test. Once confirmed, apply our Rust Remover and gently agitate. Rinse with water – no additional neutralising chemicals required.
Browning, Water Marks, Mercurochrome, Berry, Gentian Violet
Use Browning Treatment diluted at 1 part to 5 parts water, pre-testing for colour fastness first. Apply the diluted solution with a trigger pack and agitate gently. No rinse is needed unless severe browning requires a second application.
Food Spills, Vomit and Blood Stains
For organic stains, pre-test for colour fastness, then apply Sensation as directed. Gently work from the stain’s outskirts toward the centre, followed by thorough rinsing.
Unpredictable / Unknown Stains
Begin with a colour fastness test, then use Unbelievable spray. Apply the liquid to a cloth, allow a few moments of dwell time on the stain, and wipe from the edges towards the centre with a damp cloth or sponge. Rinse to remove residue.
Get Rid of Stinky Odours
After removing excess soil, apply undiluted Fabrisan. Work it into the area, blot away excess with a cloth, then allow to dry and vacuum for a fresh finish.
Floor Stripping
Clear away dust, dirt and grit first. Dilute your stripping emulsion as per the manufacturer’s guidelines, apply liberally and allow up to 5 minutes of dwell time. Scrub (machine or manual), paying attention to edges and corners. Rinse thoroughly and let the floor dry completely.
Floor Polish Applications
After stripping or cutting back the floor, ensure it is fully dry. Buff, then apply base coat undiluted, allowing each coat to dry before applying additional layers to build shine.
Maintaining Polished Floors
Sweep, mop, or vacuum to remove dust and dirt. Use a neutral detergent with a mop or auto scrubber to keep polished floors looking their best. For larger areas, consider a scrubber dryer or i-mop to improve safety and productivity.
